Dear Blogger Friends,

I am no longer going to be using this blog. While it has been a fun journey, I find tumblr to be a much more suitable medium for my celebrity ramblings and random snipits about life, love, and the pursuit of happiness.

You can find my tumblr here.

For those of you who haven't tried tumblr, you should. It kicks the ass of every other blogging platform hands down and it is so much easier to "follow" other people's postings and stay in the loop. If you set one up, please do let me know.

Additionally, I have started up a "deeper" more in-depth blog chronicling my 27th year of life here. I hope you'll join me over there.

I decided to go with Wordpress because I wanted to write longer than the pithy tumblr medium and I am tired of giving Google all of my online love.

Mixtape Social Media Ambitions: Napster Part Deux?

In light of the recent muxtape convo, I thought some people might find this article from TechCrunch interesting. It is about Mixwit and Mixaloo, two online mixtape-ish social media endeavors.

I find the Mixaloo’s compliance with Record Labels to be somewhat of the inevitable and definitely a plus for their site. On Mashable there is some discussion about how it will not be too long before individual users of these mixtape sites are going to be targeted by record labels for uploading tracks that they aren’t authorized to share (which is like, almost all of them).

Think back to the Napster days…here we go again :)

So if you don’t want record labels to come after you individually (and they likely will) then Mixaloo is definitely the most compliant so far.

I find the slide-ish functionality of Mixwit to be pretty cool and the interface pretty usable. And I really love the simplicity of Muxtape. They all bring interesting things to the table.

I just watched this movie last night the Jane Austen Book Club where all of the main characters are members of this club where they read the six Jane Austen novels over 6 months (they might do weeks, but I would def do months) and discuss one per month, with each person taking the lead on one of the books.

The movie wasn’t that good, although I adore Hugh Dancy + Emily Blunt. However, the idea is awesome.

I’d really love to do this. Jane Austen’s work is so timely and insightful. I think it would be so fun to get pitchers of beer (or maybe a ton of wine/cheese), get together, and discuss.

APW gets big points for Radiohead, but the balance in ‘good’ acts on the Rothbury lineup KILLS the lineup over at APW in my opinion.

Here’s my personality: I was briefly moonlighting as a fashion model, but I get $8 haircuts from a 72-year old Italian guy. Today, Gawker weighs in on the infamous Hollywood Vanity Fair curse. How if you get put on the cover of the March annual it-girl/guy parade, then you are either going to be huge (or already are) or are doomed for miserable failure.

I found the gallery of Annie L’s covers for these issues to be fascinating and beautiful, she really is a great photographer.

What was interesting that I noticed is that the covers (which all extend to an interior page) feature the *most* famous people on the left (which is the actual cover) and the rest are banished to inside the fold as people open the cover.

Perhaps that is Graydon’s strategy?

On a side note: I really wish I could have been on this shoot. So many handsome men.
