Carrie Underwood + Keith Urban do Rihanna

battle of overpriced festivals: rothbury vs. all points west

In the battle of mid-sized, over-priced, full weekend festivals, I have to say that so far, the Rothbury (in Michigan) Festival kicks the ass of the All Points West Festival. APW gets big points for Radiohead, but the balance in ‘good’ acts on the Rothbury lineup KILLS the lineup over at APW in my opinion.

Thoughts?

Btw, where the hell is Rothbury, Michigan?

" :: grammy madness

“ I just got an award given to me by a Beatle. Have you had that happen yet, Kanye?" -Vince Gill (accepting Country Album of the Year Award). He’s right. Kanye is a cocky bastard. If only he would acknowledge his talent in a more humble way.

Nas and Kelis :: an example of trashy marketing.

Sorry but I don’t find Nas’ marketing scheme to be interesting or compelling in any way. Here he is at the Grammys with his woman, Kelis, and I think they just look pathetic.

Lenny Kravitz :: yummy douche.

I think he might be kind of a douche, but still is alluring and sexy in some dirty, artistic yummy way.

Hotel Cafe Tour :: YUMM!

I'm really sad that Sara Bareilles isn't making the New York stop (what the f is up with that?) but I am glad that I got tickets to this. It is going to be awesome.

Gavin DeGraw's New CD "I'm in Love with a Girl"

Not sure if I am loving this album artwork or name.

However, I guess he DOES have a new cd coming out.

I'm trying to find a way to get all of the lists about upcoming shows to my inbox BEFORE the tickets go on sale. I cannot keep missing these shows!

Coachella 2008 is a sleeper.

Tyler James (Amy Winehouse's man on the side) can sing.

He is much more talented than her husband. He's her ex boyfriend. And they spent the night together last night AND went to the Caribbean together. DIVORCE BLAKE AMY!

Bell X1 is my new favorite band.

Caught up with these guys by chance at Joe's Pub and it is love.

This song by Bell X1 is about a homeless guy Rocky, who lived on the street of the lead singer Pat Noonan in Dublin, Ireland. Pat always saw him sleeping at night curled up in his little hideaway. Then on one special night, Rocky was curled upon his dirty mattress and he had his arms wrapped around a female.

EDIT: Stand corrected, Anonymous, it is Paul. And he's hot.

John M. defends Jess.

Sigh. I hate Jess Simpson, but I love him and you can't help but agree with him...Fellow Texans, I think it might be time to back off.

From his blog:

Dear Dallas and Surrounding Areas,

This isn't a sports blog, and it isn't a publicity stunt. (but have at me if it feels right.)

This is about doing what I think is right as a person, in this case speaking my mind.

I have never known anyone to have more pride in their home state and their upbringing in it than Jessica Simpson has in Texas. I don't really follow sports, but I have played some of my biggest and best concerts in your state, and having witnessed how dynamic the spirit there is, I'm betting emotions are running high right about now.

All witty barbs, blogs, and fashion policing aside, that girl loves Texas more than you know. It's one of her most defining traits as a person. So please don't try and take that away from her. (You probably wouldn't be able to, but it's less work for all involved.)

I just thought it would mean something coming from the guy who has the absolute least to gain from this. And if I'm out of line in having written it, too bad. I can spare a Wednesday's worth of bad press if it means sticking up for a good soul.

JM
