Tourists like to jump off NYC landmarks

Apparently the Gotham City is as gloomy as the Holy Batman! days. [Ok, totally cheesy, but I had to.]

For some insane reason, tourists across the nation are now coming in droves to New York City to call it quits. Hmmm...

According to the New York Daily News, more than 10% of New York's suicides are committed by out-of-towners— 407 of them from 1990-2004.

Tall buildings + lots of bridges seem to be the root of the problem. According to some guy it's natural that "jumping from a height is more common in New York than in the rest of the United States," as a report from the New York Academy of Medicine says. Natural? I don't know if I'd say that...

Interestingly enough, in the rest of the US of A most suicides happen inside the privacy of the person's home. For some reason, people just like to come here and show off in a public display. Why oh why? Catch the full article here.

Btw, loving this graph summarizing it all. Good job NYDN!

Note to tourists: Get off Canal Street (fakes suck!) and stay off our bridges and buildings! Just stay home. We already have 8 million here, do you think we want you coming here and causing traffic jams with your dramatic demise?!
